Alphabe-Thursday: Z is for ZZzzzzzzzs

I just now happened upon this fun meme, and wouldn't you know it...the first round is ending! But I think I'll stick around for the next one! ;)

So...the letter Z, in my world, is for ZZzzzzzzs! Sleep is a good thing in my book. I enjoy sleeping. I like naps. So much so that my sister worried about me having kids cause I wouldn't be able to take naps as much as I always had loved to do. I've adjusted! :) But with an infant, sleep has risen to a place of prominence in my life once again. Getting up in the middle of the night is NOT something I relish, but we must do what we must do. Since I'm trying to nurse as much as possible, that means that it HAS to be me to feed him. And as I learned with child #1, it is easier just to do it myself, as it turns out that hubby has even more trouble than I do getting up and feeding a baby. Isaac was one of those babies who you had to be sure he was totally asleep before you laid him back down, or you'd just be getting right back up...ask me how I know! LOL So if Chris wasn't willing to take the time to do that, it was more trouble than it was worth to get him to help out with nighttime feedings.

Anyway, Robbie is a pretty good sleeper, so I'm very blessed! Since Chris is working a day camp this summer and taking the big boys with him, I'm taking advantage and napping with Robbie. I love snuggling up with my sweet baby boy, cause I know that before long, he'll be bigger and need more space when he naps. I'm relishing the time I have with this last baby o mine!

So welcome to any new visitors, and know I'm gonna jump in on the ride next time! :)

Love taking naps! I think people would be less grumpy/rude/hateful if more people napped!

Great z post. I could sure use some more sleep, too. I am at the other end of the spectrum going through menopause and sleep is kind of on and off. Thanks so much for stopping by. I read that you teach first grade. My grandmother taught first grade for over thirty years. I would go to her class with her when we visited on Christmas break and her break had not started yet. Such good memories.

I had to get up with JDaniel when he was a baby. He never wanted to go back to sleep.

Hope to see you in summer school with Mrs. Matlock.

You'll love Alphabet Thursday. It's fun to see everyone's ideas each week.

I am the worst sleeper ever! I can never fall asleep or stay asleep. Must be why I nod off all day at work...

So glad you found Jenny's meme! It's been so much fun, and I can't wait until the next round. I'm with you, I LOVE little cat naps. DH is now working from home, which cramps my after work nap attacks a bit:) Welcome to class, you're going to love it. Kat

Wonderful Zzzz post! I know what you mean about putting sleep at the top of the list, especially with a new baby. Loved the line:

"I love snuggling up with my sweet baby boy, cause I know that before long, he'll be bigger...."

Sounds like you're doing a great job! Your post makes me miss those times when my kids were babies.... Enjoy this special time. Thanks for sharing. And thanks also for stopping by my blog and taking the time to comment on my Zen Garden post.

I love LOVE naps! My favorite! I think if I remember correctly, Jenny will be doing the colors of the rainbow next and then when school starts back up she will be staring the alphabet back up! So check back next week!

Napping is a great talent to have - I feel so sorry for people who say they just can't nap. When my children were babies I napped when they did - it was a luxury, I know, but I never had that terrible bone-weariness I heard others talk about.
Do stay around for the next version of Alphabe-thursday!

Welcome to Alphabe-Thursday! I also wrote about sleep. Great minds? I had one boy who slept through the night right from the start. Seriously. But I paid for it with my youngest. He didn't sleep through the night until FOUR. Hope you get some much needed rest soon!

I have no idea how people sleep. None. I don't know how to nap. I can't sleep at night without heavy drugs. I become so tolerant of them that I have a 4 month rotation of insomnia meds. I'm so jealous of nappers. When I was preggo with baby #1 we were afraid to put me on anything and I'd be up for up to a week and so sick the docs said I just had to make it through the 1st trimester. Ambien was a blessing after that!

i love, love, love my zzzz's. i read once that people who take small naps in the afternoon have better memory retention in their later years. that is all i needed to hear! will you be linking up to the colors of the rainbow? maybe you should sleep on it (tee hee)!

I'm with you on the zzzz's. I have a new baby, too, but she's a fur baby. She still requires you to get up in the middle of the night right now, though because although she's a big baby her bladder is apparently the size of a peanut.

Gotta love it.

I think having kids gives you an excuse to nap. I became a napper after my first, now 14 years later, I still haven't given up the habit. The kids are like, "Mom, we gave up napping a long time ago, get up!"
